Many of us know of someone living with a long-term disability. But unless you live with a disability yourself, or care for someone who does, it is hard to understand the emotional and financial challenges. Navigating the current disability support systems is a nightmare. What’s more, most Canadians do not understand that failing to provide adequate support for individuals with disabilities has significant costs for all of us.
Gaining public support for a national insurance program will require raising public awareness about the current crisis and the benefits this program could have for all Canadians. We believe a more educated public means a stronger and more understanding Canada.
