Alberta opposition wants probe into reports of deaths of care-home patients

Alberta’s opposition parties want an investigation into reports that five people have died after being transferred from a care home for the severely disabled in Red Deer.

Residents of the Michener Centre are being moved to community group homes as part of a government plan to close much of the facility to save money.

New Democrat David Eggen says the reports suggest that five of 41 people who have been transferred in recent months have died. [Read the full story here]
